Johnstown America appoints new product line manager.

Johnstown, Pennsylvania, August 20, 2003 - Johnstown America Corporation announced today the promotion of Sean Hankinson to the position of product line manager for coal cars. Hankinson will be based at Johnstown America Corporation's headquarters in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

Johnstown America Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Ed Whalen said, "Sean's experience and strong background in the railcar industry make him a valuable addition to our marketing and sales team."

Hankinson joined Johnstown America in 1992 as a manufacturing engineer. He has been manager of manufacturing technology, manufacturing engineering team leader, and a unit production manager.

Hankinson has a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and is a professional engineer. He is currently enrolled in the MBA Program at St. Francis University in Loretto, PA.

Hankinson, his wife, Lora and their daughter reside in Johnstown. For over a century, Johnstown America Corporation has been a leading producer of railcars in North America.
