Johnstown America names new Regional VP Sales.

Johnstown, Pennsylvania, June 17, 2003 - Johnstown America Corporation announced today that it has appointed Timothy D. Johnson as vice president, sales, western region. Working from the Johnstown America office in Chicago, Johnson will have responsibility for marketing of forest products and construction materials railcars and sales of all Johnstown America products in the Western region.

Edward Whalen, Johnstown America's senior vice president, sales and marketing, said, "Tim is an important and strong addition to Johnstown America. We are pleased to have him on our team to help us with marketing and selling our new freight car designs into expanding markets."

Johnson has a wide ranging background in the rail industry, including various planning, operating, sales and marketing positions at the Santa Fe and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, plus senior sales positions at Thrall Car Manufacturing Company and Trinity Rail Group.

Johnson's education background includes a bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University, and an MBA from the University of Chicago. Johnson, his wife Nancy, and their three boys reside in Flossmoor, Illinois.
