Johnstown America delivers new coal cars to MRC Rail ServicesJohnstown, Pennsylvania, May 28, 2003 - Johnstown America Corporation today announced delivery of new 240 AutoFlood III™ coal cars to MRC Rail Services, LLC, an affiliate of Mitsui and Company, Ltd. Johnstown America built the cars at its Danville, Illinois manufacturing facility. The cars are Johnstown America's new exterior-stake, aluminum rapid discharge design equipped with rotary couplers for operation in either bottom discharge or rotary dumping facilities. MRC will place the cars into service with a major utility hauling a combination of western and eastern coal. Harry Zander, MRC's Vice President, Sales and Marketing said, "We chose Johnstown America's automatic discharge/rotary combination cars because of their flexibility and the future demand we see for this capability. We want to show our continued commitment to the new car market and have had excellent experience with Johnstown America and look forward to continued business." This is Johnstown America's sixth production run of the AutoFlood III™ car in a little over one year's time. The AutoFlood III features the MegaFlo™ automated door system with 50-inch door openings that enhances coal discharge under a variety of unloading conditions. For over a century, Johnstown America Corporation has been a major producer of railcars in North America. It designs and builds aluminum coal cars (it is the industry leader), flat cars, mill gondola cars, heavy haul intermodal cars, aggregate cars, the new aluminum motor vehicle carrier (AVC), and the VersaCoil™ steel coil car.
