Johnstown America delivers 120 cars to EntergyJohnstown, Pennsylvania, February 13, 2003 - Johnstown America Corporation today announced its delivery of 120 BethGon® II coal gondola cars to Entergy Services, Inc., of The Woodlands, Texas. Entergy Services is a major energy provider operating coal fired electric power plants in the southern United States. The 122-ton capacity coal gondola cars will join Entergy's fleet that carries coal moved by the railroads in unit trains from the Powder River Basin to Entergy power plants in Arkansas and Louisiana. This latest delivery expands Entergy's fleet to over 3,000 Johnstown America-built coal cars. A portion of the cars will be used in the Entergy Arkansas service territory, supplying coal to two 850-megawatt boilers. The remainder of the cars will be added to the fleet that supplies coal to a 400-megawatt boiler at one of the Entergy-Gulf States plants. Johnstown America's BethGon II is an updated version of the traditional BethGon car, which is the most commonly used aluminum coal gondola car in western coal service. The Aluminum BethGon, first introduced by Johnstown America in 1985, is a proven design reflecting many years and billions of miles of service. It features lighter tare weight, higher cubic capacity and durability to meet the rigors of long-haul coal train service. For over a century Johnstown America Corporation has been a leading producer of railcars in North America. Some of the car types JAC designs and builds are aluminum coal cars (it is the industry leader), flat cars, mill gondola cars, heavy haul intermodal cars, the new AVC aluminum motor vehicle carrier, and the VersaCoil™ steel coil car.
