The Cambria Steel Company manufactured the first freight and mine cars at the Franklin Plant in November, 1901. One of the features of the Franklin Plant is manufacturing flexibility.

The Franklin Plant, having approximately 800,000 square feet of manufacturing space, houses a full service, well-equipped fabrication shop. Recent renovations include a new paint and shot blast facility for underframes.
